Private piano lessons

inRen Piano Studio

inRenPiano welcomes students of all ages and experience levels and currently serves students in Harrisonburg, VA and surrounding areas.

Whether a student is beginning their musical journey, returning to piano after time away, or looking to deepen their musicianship, lessons are designed around each student's individual goals, interests, and learning style.

With supportive and positive private piano instruction, students are encouraged to grow through curiosity, creativity, and meaningful musical exploration.

Every student's journey is unique, and lessons are tailored to support personal growth, confidence, and lifelong learning.

At inRenPiano, students are not simply taught what to play; they are guided to understand how they learn.

Through reflection, goal-setting, problem-solving, and creative exploration, students become co-creators of their own musical experience, developing the skills and mindset needed for lifelong learning.

our approach to learning

Student-Centered Learning

Every student’s musical journey is unique. inRenPiano offers individualized piano instruction that adapts to each student's interests, goals, learning style, and pace of growth.

Lessons focus on building confidence, encouraging creativity, and helping students develop a meaningful and lasting connection with music. Each lesson balances technical development, musical understanding, and creative exploration.

Depending on individual goals, lessons may include repertoire, technique, improvisation, ear training, music theory, composition, sight-reading, and other creative activities.

Practice is an important part of musical growth, but it is not simply measured by minutes spent at the piano.

Students develop strategies for independent practice, problem-solving, and thoughtful reflection so they can better understand how they learn and grow as musicians.

Through a growth mindset approach, students learn to recognize their strengths, work through challenges, develop positive self-talk, and take ownership of their progress.

Students become co-creators of their learning experience by actively participating in goal-setting, exploring musical ideas, and discovering what helps them grow.

for parents

At inRenPiano, we believe that meaningful music education grows through relationships. We strive to support not only students, but also the families who encourage and guide them throughout their musical journey.

Beyond the lesson experience, inRenPiano provides resources and opportunities for parents to better understand and nurture their child's growth as a musician.

Our parent-focused webinar library explores topics such as learning styles, practicing, growth mindset, redefining success, and creating a joyful musical environment at home.

Our goal is to make musical parenting feel accessible, encouraging, and enjoyable—helping families build meaningful connections through music both inside and outside of lessons.

for community

Music is meant to be shared, celebrated, and experienced together. At inRenPiano, community opportunities give students a chance to connect with others and celebrate their musical growth.

Each semester, inRenPiano hosts a fun, themed recital where students have the opportunity to share their music with family and friends in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Participation is always optional, and students are encouraged to celebrate their own musical journey in a way that feels meaningful to them.

Visit our "Calendar" page for upcoming events and community opportunities.

structure

inRenPiano instruction is organized by semester, with Fall and Spring sessions following a 14-week learning structure designed to support consistent growth, musical development, and meaningful progress.

the inRenPiano experience

"Natalie's fun, energetic, individualized lessons have been so good for my introverted daughter.  Natalie has been excellent at building relationship and causing piano to be fun and enjoyable.  My daughter has grown so much in piano and music.  The confidence that she has gained extends beyond music.  I am grateful to have Natalie as my daughter's piano instructor." - Amy H., parent

"My son Frankie has grown and flourished with Natalie's instructional methods.  Her approach showed Frankie from the very beginning that playing the piano was fun and a creative outlet.  He has taken this mentality and run with it - often figuring out tunes by ear and actively trying to come up with his own compositions.  He views the piano as a friend and companion rather than something to conquer because of Natalie's deft skills in teaching excitable young children with patience and kindness.  We could not have found a better teacher and we will always be grateful for Natalie's grace and care in teaching Frankie." - Paula K., parent

"Natalie is a great teacher. We really love the learning games she incorporates into lessons.  We get to use our imagination a lot and that makes piano lessons really fun. She always smiles when she sees us and that makes us happy to learn too." - Basil (9), Finnegan (11)

"I am so pleased we found Natalie's studio. She is warm, inviting and truly cares about her students. Natalie, uses innovative ways to teaching curious minds. My kids are definitely blossoming as little musicians since we've begun lessons at inRenaissance.- Kelly S., parent

"After I retired, I decided to give piano another try, having a note-very-fulfilling or productive experience in my youth. When I met Natalie, what impressed me was how interested she was in trying to figure out what my special abilities and interests were. Natalie has the unique gift of being able to inspire and motivate; her feedback always constructive and yet gentle. A whole new world has opened up to me, thanks to her." - Anne H., Retired Professor Emeritus

"Natalie is amazing with young piano players! They adore her and she keeps them highly motivated to practice and always do their best. She's creative and adapts her teaching style to their learning style." - Heather G., parent

"I am a retired middle school teacher. I have wanted to go back to piano lessons for a while, but teaching totally engulfed my life. When I retired I wanted to be sure to keep myself busy, including using my brain. Piano lessons were the answer. I knew a bit about music and piano, but I wanted to learn for the fun of playing and listening to the music, just for me. Natalie has been a great piano teacher for me for a year and a

half. She pushes me, just enough, listens without telling me I’m

playing a wrong note and encourages me to continue to practice as I am. My lessons are a fun learning experience every time. Natalie is the perfect match for anyone wanting to learn to play the piano." - Holly H., Jan. 2021
